The Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamad Al Sharqi Award for Creativity has organized its first session in the induction program of the Award in its second session 2019-2020 from the Egyptian capital, Cairo, in the Conrad Hotel Hall.
The Award targets Arab creators with the aim of supporting their literary and critical talents, publishing Arab literary output, critical studies and historical research of Arab creators in the world at the initiative of Sheikh Dr. Rashid bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Chairman of Fujairah Culture and Information Authority.
The second edition of the award targets Arab novelists of all ages in the novel in three categories, namely, the Arabic novel, senior Arabic, youth under 40, the Emirati novel for all ages, critical studies, historical research, short story, drama, poetry and children’s literature.
The induction program continues in Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and a number of cultural bodies and higher education institutions in the UAE. These meetings come within the framework of the cooperation of Fujairah Culture and Information Authority, the organizer of the award with the ministries of culture in the Arab countries in order to expand the scope of its spread and open fields of competition to ensure the provision of literature The Arab in all forms of his creative presence and celebrate the Arab creator and support any cultural project with goals and enlightenment visions.
The award also targets Arab creators to be works in classical Arabic and dealing with humanitarian issues concerned with openness to the other dialogue, and not to advocate violence and extremism and does not incite to kill or spread the ideas advocated through its contents.
HE Mohamed Saif Al Afkham, Chairman of the International Theater Association and Director of the Fujairah International Arts Festival, said that the roots of Egyptian culture extend for thousands of years in history and Egypt is one of the oldest civilizations of the earth and naturally the kiss of any award aimed at originality in creativity and rich in content. Literary and artistic schools in the Arab world, so we were keen to be the launch of the award in its Arab and international tour from Egypt.
He added that the announcement of the winners and the distribution of the awards will take place at the opening ceremony of the Fujairah International Arts Festival, which will be held from 20 to 28 February 2020, which is graciously sponsored and attended by His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah and HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi Fujairah and selected Arab artists and stars.
Hessa Al Falasi, Director General of the Rashid bin Hamad Al Sharqi Award for Creativity, said that under the guidance of Sheikh Dr. Rashid bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Chairman of Fujairah Culture and Information Authority, most of the categories of the award focused on attracting young Arab innovators from different countries of the Arab world under the age of 40 to participate in their literary works. A number of categories of the award, especially in the fields of short story, theater text, poetry, and children’s literature, in order to enrich and renew the cultural scene and support young pens and embrace the Arab creators in their writing career.
She added that the youth category plays a vital and important role in the various fields of development of peoples and peoples. Culture and literature are an integral part of any civilizational renaissance project, and since young people have such importance in making content and determining its course, this was a valuable opportunity to showcase their creations that will enrich the Arab literary project and transmit it.
